Ethos Club

Ethos Club – Living Our Christian Vision in Action
What is Ethos Club?
Ethos Club is a pupil-led group that plays a vital role in bringing our theologically rooted Christian vision to life across the school. Grounded in the belief that every individual is created in the image of God and called to flourish, the club enables pupils to lead, reflect, and act in ways that shape our school as a community of love, dignity, justice, and hope.
How Ethos Club Supports SIAMS
IQ1: How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision enable pupils and adults to flourish?
Ethos Club enables pupils to flourish as confident, compassionate leaders, helping them discover their own gifts and encouraging spiritual, moral, and emotional growth. Through leadership in worship, values-driven action, and whole-school initiatives, the club offers real opportunities for pupils to live out our Christian vision with purpose and joy.
IQ2: How does the curriculum reflect the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision?
While not responsible for curriculum design, Ethos Club enhances the curriculum by embedding core Christian values into everyday school life. For example, pupils introduce each half term’s value through collective worships and displays, supporting reflection and application across subjects and key stages.
IQ3: How is collective worship enabling pupils and adults to flourish spiritually?
Ethos Club plays a central role in planning, leading, and evaluating collective worship. Pupils choose themes, write prayers, and invite others into meaningful reflection. This empowers spiritual development and allows worship to remain child-led, relevant and deeply rooted in the Christian story.
IQ4: How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create a culture in which pupils and adults are treated well?
By promoting inclusive leadership and modelling kindness and respect, Ethos Club helps build a culture where every voice is valued. Pupils are encouraged to think about how Christian values shape the way we treat one another, resolve conflict, and build a safe, welcoming school for all.
IQ5: How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create an active culture of justice and responsibility?
Ethos Club champions action for justice, stewardship, and service. Pupils lead fundraising, organise community events, support local and global charities, and run campaigns tied to themes like anti-bullying, environmental care, or inclusion—helping others see faith as a force for good and change.
IQ6 & IQ7: Religious Education
While RE is overseen by curriculum leaders, Ethos Club works closely with the RE and Worldviews team to support the spiritual and reflective environment. Club members help design prayer spaces, ask "big questions", and explore links between faith, learning, and daily life—enhancing RE and Worldviews impact on the wider ethos of the school.
