All Saints' C of E Primary School - Our Ambitious Curriculum for All

Curriculum Intent...
Discover God, Learn Together, and Achieve Our Best
At All Saints’ School, we believe that everyone is important – every child, every adult, and every voice in our community. We aim to be a place where all can grow and flourish, supported by our shared Christian values: Curiosity, Kindness, Respect, Courageous Determination, and Joyfulness. These values guide our decisions, shape our interactions, and inspire our learning.
As a Church of England school, our Christian faith is central to all we do. We are deeply rooted in the words of Psalm 32:8:
“The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’”
This verse inspires us as curriculum designers and educators. It reassures us that each child’s path is unique, purposeful, and lovingly guided by God.
Our vision is to Discover God, Learn Together, and Achieve Our Best. Through this, we commit to:
-
Encouraging curiosity that sparks a lifelong love of learning.
-
Promoting kindness and respect in all relationships.
-
Cultivating courageous determination to face challenges.
-
Celebrating joyfulness in both success and growth.
We strive to nurture the future generation of scientists, artists, musicians, mathematicians, writers, athletes, and more—equipped not only with skills and knowledge, but with the character and confidence to make a positive impact in the world.
At All Saints’, we value each child's Cultural Capital—the rich experiences, languages, beliefs, and traditions they bring. This diversity of background and perspective strengthens our school family and enriches our curriculum. We actively seek to broaden our children's horizons through:
-
Enrichment opportunities including trips, competitions, and community events.
-
Immersive Religious Education that explores world faiths, encouraging empathy and understanding.
-
Collective Worship that brings our community together in reflection and celebration.
-
Leadership opportunities, such as the Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award, that develop responsibility and social awareness.
Though our local area may not be widely diverse, our curriculum ensures that every child experiences and appreciates a wide range of cultures and worldviews. We are intentional in selecting inclusive texts and planning opportunities for interfaith learning and cultural encounters.
At All Saints’, we guide every child on the best pathway for their life—rooted in Christian love, strengthened by community, and inspired by the belief that each child is capable of achieving their best.
Implementation...
We have constructed an aspirational curriculum (which organically grows and evolves with time) that prepares the children academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually to be active and successful participants in our British and Global society. Children’s voices are heard at All Saints’, (including our Ethos group and Pupil Parliament committee) and they are given life tools enabling them to listen with understanding and empathy, think critically and creatively, question, and speak with clarity. Our children need to be strong and know that they can overcome many obstacles and challenges if they work hard and give it all they’ve got – with integrity, braveness and perseverance - this is courageous determination that drives our values. Above all, we desire for our All Saints’ children to be confident, independent, respectful and happy learners for life!
Impact…
In everything that we do, we strive for greatness, and our ambitious curriculum is no different. To achieve this, we believe it must be informed and shaped by expert subject matter and evidence-informed research. Therefore, our curriculum will never stand still. Year after year, new experiences and new ways of imparting knowledge, tailored to the individual needs of our context and up to date with the world will be achieved. Our subject leaders are equipped to design carefully crafted sequences of learning that not only engage and challenge our pupils but progressively build on prior learning, including the explicit teaching of vocabulary across all subjects.
We will see evidence of developed and more secure core skills, which enable successful learning. An increase in curriculum time across all year groups (handwriting, spelling of common exception words, basic sentence punctuation, times tables recall, key mathematical facts and reading skills relevant to age, including early reading, phonics and comprehension skills) will help this impact. Teachers will identify gaps and adapt their plans accordingly.
Knowledge, Retention, Spaced Learning, Instruct, Process, Performance
At All Saints’ we ensure that our curriculum and teaching is informed by the latest evidential research from cognitive science about memory, knowledge retention and practice to help students remember, and apply, the best of what has been thought and said. We make knowledge stick for all learners so that all children are equipped to let their light shine.
Equality
At the heart of our curriculum is complying with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. Therefore, ensuring in line with our Christian vision and values of The All Saints' Way that our Curriculum is accessible for all children including those who may have a disability or Special Educational need.
