The All Saints’ Way…
PSHE Curriculum Intent...
Discovering God | Learning Together | Achieving Our Best
At All Saints’, our intent is for all children to become lifelong learners, equipped with the confidence and skills to grow through new experiences, face challenges, and adapt to unfamiliar situations. Rooted in our value of Discovering God, we nurture each child’s unique potential within a caring environment where achievements are celebrated and every individual is valued.
We believe that every child is special and aim to foster mutual respect, responsibility, and strong self-esteem in a happy and supportive atmosphere. Through learning together, our teaching of PSHE is supported by the JIGSAW programme, which helps children acquire the knowledge and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future.
JIGSAW’s mindful approach empowers children to develop their inner worlds, nurturing them as unique individuals who build positive relationships with themselves and others. This supports them in becoming self-regulating, effective learners with a strong sense of agency.
Our PSHE curriculum helps children to achieve their best by developing the qualities and attributes needed to thrive as individuals, family members, and responsible members of society and the global community.
Implementation...
PSHE is implemented throughout the whole school during weekly whole school JIGSAW lessons focusing on different topics each term. It is embedded through all lessons and the whole school day, with everyone supporting and encouraging the children they interact with to use the skills they are developing and to make links to other areas of learning.
The aims of PSHE and JIGSAW within All Saints’ are to provide children with:
- Accurate and relevant knowledge
- Opportunities to create personal understanding
- Opportunities to explore and challenge a range of values, attitudes, beliefs, rights and responsibilities
- A range of skills and strategies to live a healthy, safe, fulfilling, responsible and balanced life
JIGSAW deals with the diverse beliefs, values and attitudes that individuals and societies hold. It helps pupils to develop themselves, their understanding of the world, and their ability to communicate their feelings. Children at All Saints’ also acquire an understanding and experiences of British Values and the 9 Protected Characteristics that are necessary if they are to make sense of their experiences, value themselves, respect others, appreciate differences and feel confident and informed as a British citizen.
Impact…
It is our aim that the standards of attainment across the school will meet or exceed that which are expected of our children nationally. At All Saints’, we continuously assess the implementation and impact of our JIGSAW lessons in order to achieve these outstanding results across all year groups and ensure we provide the support that is necessary for all children to achieve whether that be in class or with the support of our inclusion team. Through our PSHE education, we believe we can enhance children’s education and help them to become caring, respectful and confident individuals.
